I don't know whether I have picked up a virus or something, but some of my Windows components have stopped working, including System restore and System information. No error messages come up, they just don't start. Also, my McAfee anti virus went funny, so I tried un-installing then reinstalling, but it just won't install. Again, no error messages. PC seems to work OK other than this, but I obviously need my Anti-virus. (It was a complimentary copy free with my Sky Broadband package and was the proper edition.) Thanks.

If your computer is set to automatic updates look in add/remove programs and check updates from Microsoft which have been done recently. Sometimes a bug fix causes other problems.
My system restore also stopped working ages ago, and I can't get it back.

Regarding your antivirus tho, AVG free is better than some you pay for, so if you need to, consider using that.
switch sys restore off ... reboot - switch it on ... reboot ...

disagree with the avg ... AVG is worth every penny ...
If it was better - why would anyone ... including AVG be selling scanners?
