a deep humming noise coming from it that wasn't there yesterday! I've switched it off and on again and it's still there, it's really annoying. Anyone any ideas? It's not going to blow up is it? All my games are saved in there! : (

just another thought - do you have a CD/DVD in your drive - might be worth removing it.

Hi, nope no disc or dvd in drive. It's humming even when it's not running but switched on!

Or a tired cooling fan bearing, one that needs a little lubrication.
A drop of oil often cures noisy fans, but of course a lap top is much more difficult to get into than a desk top.
