did I suffer a seizure?
10 Answers
I always feel light headed after smoking a cigarette but last night was different. I was having a ciggie outside kneeling down on my garden doorstep as I always do. Upon finishing, I stood up, and this is when I always become light headed for a few seconds but this time my girlfriend was there and as I stood up and looked at her I totally lost consciousness and the next thing I remember I was shaking violently and trying to hold on to the clothesline. It was only a few seconds, I dont know what happened. She got really upset about it. She told me that I glazed at her and grabbed onto her and when she couldnt sustain my weight I began shaking violently.
Its really weird, possibly a seizure? I've never experienced anything like it. My gf says that I should see a doctor, but I dont want to waste their or my time with something that seems so insignificant.
Does anyone else suffer from this light headedness whenever they are standing up from floor level?

Shaking violently however is not normal as you know and needs checking out properly. It is also not the norm for a ciggie to make a regular smoker light headed, which would suggest some involvement, and perhaps your consideration? Good luck.

Lightheadedness is one thing but shaking not.
Get it checked out asap. It may or may not happen again but if it does at least you're made steps towards getting it checked out.

If that happened to me, I'd be hammering down the door of my GP. It doesn't sound insignificant to me.
I get light headed sometimes when standing up from floor level, but this is due to me having low blood pressure. You really ought to go to see your doctor, it could be a sign of something more serious.

it all sounds like low blood pressur to me - on standing up quickly blood supply to the brain is suddenly reduced leading to the light headedness, this and also produce shaking etc.
go to the docs to have your bp measured - but i think it prob won't happen as much if you avoid kneeling down to smoke
