What is the answer???
48 Answers
Animals & Nature is a lovely site. So many interesting questions and answers from mostly genuine people.
I thoroughly enjoy the banter and debates and the knowledge that I gain from everyone who enters into the spirit of the site.
Why then do we have to put up with the half wits that post cruel/stupid/un-funny comments to genuine requests for help?
I am not referring to the 'chicken' episode - that was a debate and a half and yes, we all had our thoughts on that. But today - there have been a few individuals who get a kick out of ridicule and posting comments that are not appropriate!!
Surely this will put people off posting genuine questions?

What is the answer? Do we ignore them in the hope that they will go away?
Why do these people get a kick out of this sort of behaviour?

We have a variety of nesting boxes (not entirely sure which is for what, if you see what I mean!) but we have blue tits and the robins are back again (even after they lost their 1 chick). They have decided to give it another try.
Just been sitting out in the garden with faithful (!) pup by my side, enjoying the sunshine and watching all the birds come and go.
Have just come in now to do ummmmm some housework!
Thought I should! Lol - won't take me too long I hope!!!
Have a wonderful weekend - its so good to chat to nice people on this site, and there are many of you. :o)

hello alfieblue, heres a little something to cheer you up. ive been out most of yesterday but was following your thread by my phone and was so sad for you for all the not so kind posts you'd been getting and the things that were upsetting you. so heres my cat tale:charlie and the frog;
when charlie was a kitten (he was a neighbours cat) he found a frog in my mums garden, he was fasinated by it and kept poking it to make it jump, and bounded along behind it until at one point he had landed on top of it, i watched this bemused kitten trying to find the frog and wonder why his belly was leaping on its on accord, the poor frog was trying to get out from under him. charlie soon gave up on his new playmate and storked off leaving me laughing at his antics. :-))) xx

Lol!!! What a lovely story - made me giggle trying to picture the scene!!!
Animals are so lovely, it never ceases to amaze me what joy they can bring!
I'm just waiting for my pup to meet his first frog!!! Can't imagine what he will make of it - he (being a young cocker spaniel) bounces around like tigger anyway, so I guess they will be bouncing around together!!!! Will have to take some pics of the action!! :o) xx

Hi alfie,
I have a regular blackbird, I call him raggy. The poor little thing is very tatty-looking, with feathers stuck up on his back and sides. He loves mealworms and I try to make sure he gets his share - the starlings usually come down and clear them up as soon as I put them out.
I also have a regular hedgehog - in fact, I think I have a whole family of hedgehogs. Often I have three at the dish all at the same time. They love mealworms too. They are canny little things - once the dish is empty, they push it around and make a lot of noise, then I go out and refill it for them.
With reference to your question about unkind posters on here - I'd say don't let them put you off this site, the majority of posters are good people. I didn't read the chicken thread because I knew it would upset me too much. I'll never, ever understand why people are cruel to animals. They are the lowest of the low.

Hi chappie!
Thank you for your kind message.
Lol - I should rename old yellowbeak raggy cos he is exactly the same as yours!! Not the most sleekest looking birdie!! He must be getting on a bit tho so I guess he is wearing quite well!!
The hoggies sound right characters! I haven't seen any in the garden this year - I expect they are still around but keeping a low profile!! Think they have been feasting on all the slugs we seem to get!
You are right - there are many good people on the site - as for the 'other minority' I have decided that the best option is just to ignore their comments and hopefully they will go away.
Just out for early walkies now with pup who is sitting here watching me type and waiting patiently!!!
Have a lovely weekend! :o)xx
