Did you hitch hike when you were younger?

Did you ever suffer or think of the consequences?

The thought of my daughter doing it half scares me to death.

I never thought of the consequences at the time and I was lucky.

I didn't do it myself but I have picked hitchers up. I picked up 3 young lads late one night recently when their car had broken down and drove them to a bus station! My friends thought I was crazy but my only thought was that I had a son of around the same age and I would like to think that someone would do the same for him

why would your daughter hitch hike in first place

i would not let my daughter do it no matter wat

hell high water i would pick her up or make her get a taxi

always make sure she came first

as she is my only daughter and i wouldnt want to
go thru the trauma as it would kill me off

why this ? at this time of nite

as every parent will be viligent now

i know im am then you get accussed off your off spring

just a thought that popped into my head after reading another thread.

I think its highly unlikely that my daughter would hitch hike anywhere, like i say it was just a thought i had.

I'm sure my parents would have been horrified at the thought that i'd hitch hiked but then they didnt know everything that i did. which as my daughter gets older i suspect will be the case.

My daughter is back-packing around Europe next month...alone!!! If she hitches I will do her serious bodily harm.....am sick at thought of it.

Yes I certainly did, and would never knowingly let my daughter do it. Luckily I could look after myself, but my daughter is much more naive. Believe me, I've had to jump and run from some hairy situations and drivers!!!

Yes, I hitched from Aberystwyth to Glasgow then back to Birmingham once for charity (jailbreak) back in 1997.

There is no way I'd do it now though and there is no way I'd ever let my kids (when I have them) do it.

Yes, I did, many years ago, and I'm horrified looking back on it!
