My Girlfriend has a 3 year old puma 56,000 miles.She claims the stearing has become heavy?On putting the wheels on full lock you hear a whirring noise from power stearing pump.Is this normal??

I get the same kind of noise from my mitsubishi, think it it is normal, i've also found that if the revs are low - the power steering is not quite as effective. Ask the garage next time its due for a service/mot.

its normal my fiesta zetec does it and the old mans focus does so theres nowt wrong with ur steering colum,
