air bag light

i have a peugeot 306 car and when i turn the engine on the air bag light keeps flashing and stays flashing-ive not had any bumps in the car -does anyone know why this is happening?

If you have not owned the vehicle from new and it has always happened maybe the previous owner had a bump in t ?.

The light will also come on if somebody has removed the steering wheel for any reason (to replace dashboard bulbs etc.), or there may be a problem with the impact sensors. In any case a dealership or auto electrician can plug diagnostics into the car to tell you exactly and reset the light if no repairs are nessecary.

Get it checked out asap. Air bags have a small explosive charge inside them - not the sort of thing you want firing when you are driving. The warning light is there for a good reason. It may be just a simple electrical fault but certainly not worth the risk of a malfunction.

In the Peugeot 306 there is a light that stays on if the front-seat airbag has been turned off with the key - a red keyhole just to the right of the steering column. Check this is not turned off.
