Following on from watching this last night, is it possible to believe in both the Christian God (as per the first and third Indiana Jones films) and also Aliens (which is in the fourth film)

Surely, if you believe in The Bible (Ark of the Covenant and Holy Grail), you can't believe in Aliens.

Why not?

If God created us, why would He not have created life elsewhere?

Or did he give Mankind an "exclusive" deal?

My interpretation of The Bible (and it has been many many years since I read it) was that mankind was exclusive.

If I knew I was right, I wouldn't ask a question.

I wanted people's viewpoints preferably backed up with some explanation as to their thought process.

But seriously, the Bible was written at a time when our understanding of the Universe was that we were at the centre, and that Heaven was as high up as the clouds, and there was nothing beyond that.

Now we know that that was total pish, and there are some 100,000,000,000,000 stars in the bit of the Universe that we know of. Do we really flatter ourselves that God would ignore the rest?

That would be the ultimate conceit for Mankind.

I am not sure about Bible but I do believe in life on other planets. Quran talks about that. Now that could be life in any form not exactly like people with big eyes and round tummies.

Sorry, I assumed that Christians believed in the Ten Commandments and thus believed in The Ark.

But the question still stands: Can you believe in both God & Aliens.

There isn't a commandment Thou shalt not believe in aliens. If the universe was created by God and he put people on this planet why wouldn't he put some form of life on the other planets he created. Us mere mortals may not have what it needs to see this life. Our senses are geared up for THIS planet, .......just a thought.........

Cant you believe that the real answer is a bit of a mix of all of them?

God, maybe. Ark of the covenant, possibly. Bit of life elsewhere, probably. A few misinterpretations in the Bible, perhaps.
