Limewire connection

I haven't connected to Limewire for a while but now I can't get passed the first red stripe. The only thing new to my system is AVG 8, could this be the reason or are other people having the same problem?

Maybe some ISP's are starting to restrict peer to peer networks, I know some have spoken about doing that sort of thing, or at the very least treating P2P traffic as very low priority so it's less likely to get through.

Hedge, yes it's free. Got a lot more to it than the 7.5 version too. Some people don't like it but I've had no problems, especially now I know it's not that that is causing my problem. It does take a long time to scan though. It's taking about 1hr 10 mins on mine and I have it set to Fast Scan.
If you have 7.5 I think the updates cease at the end of this month.
Fay Mousse we'll all have to keep our eyes open and hope it's not true.

Sorry to disagree, but I have just had to PAY for AVG 8 as I kept getting warnings saying no more free updates on 7.5 as from tomorrow. I don't recall seeing an option for a FREE version, but then, I did click the link so maybe bypassed it.
That said, I still trust AVG more than anyone, and it wasn't a lot for what you get.

Postdog - you must have inadvertently downloaded the trial version of the paid for AVG.
AVG is still free, and AVG have committed to keep the free version:

I also haven't seen anything definite about the blocking of P2P traffic, but as fay mousse says it would be quite allowed under the fair usage policy's, it's actually the rapid increase of the on demand tv thats brought it about as bbc iplayer, 4 ondemand and most of the other on demand services use P2P (kontiki's kservice) to distribute the content and this is putting such a load on the ISP's networks they are talking about either blocking it or charging extra for the use of it.
However I do for a fact that some ISP's are already using bandwidth shaping to place P2P traffic as low priority so at busy times it will be less reliable.
