well morpheus, most crackers tend to use tools off the internet to scan systems for well known vulnerabilities. They do not tend to have any innovative thoughts of their own and this is where the term 'script kiddie' is derived from - a kid who uses other people's scripts. I would suggest buying a book on the (rather extensive) subject if you require any more information.
