cafe latte
10 Answers
Just been out, and grabbed a cafe latte on the way back.
Is it just me? Or have I paid over two pounds for a milky coffee like old people have at bedtime?
I mean - coffee made with milk ??!! Wow, genius. Now who ever would have thought of that?

Wasn't complaining Zacs. I'm not a moaner (well, not in that sense, anyway).
But I was musing on how we have come to view lattes as trendy coffees.
I used to have milky coffees when I was little. Then came the day when I said oh, mum, I'm a big girl now, can't I have a proper coffee? Then, a few years later, the coffee shops will sell me one of my kiddy coffees for the best part of three quid, and somehow convince me it's trendy.
And yes, I keep buying the things.

Aww, sorry bigmamma. I didn't mean to pigeonhole anyone.
If I'm eating out though, it has to be a double espresso. Which is another sales thing I can't grasp. Espresso is a means of making coffee. There is no rule about how big or small it has to be, so surely a double espresso is just a single espresso but bigger?
My espresso maker at home is one of those where you screw it together and whap it on the cooker. It does a mugful, and I guzzle the lot. Is this a Sextruple Espresso? Or just a big one?
