I know that Damien Hirst's original cover design for the BandAid single was banned, but did he design the one they eventually used or did someone else? If so- who?

Hirst's work was rejected on grounds of unsuitability. It was viewed as very appropriate. Pop artist Sir Peter Blake, who created the cover image for The Beatles' Sergeant Pepper album, designed the original Band Aid sleeve.

I am sure that Damien Hirst designed Band Aid 20's sleeve witht the reindeer
