Was it a big con? Rowntrees Spell and win competion late 80's early - 1990's

Did anyone back then win anything?
I'm sure it was either in the late 80's or early 90s.
Anyway, the point is that the competition was called Spell and Win and Rowntree (Now Nestle) printed 3 random letters inside the chocolate bar wrappers of Aero, Toffee Crisp etc in the hope that people could save the letters and spell out the names of prizes i.e. television, bicycle etc.
Now at that time I was a HUGE chocoholic at that time and must have been eating something in the region of 20 bars a week and collecting the wrappers for what seemed like an age.
I didn't managed to spell anythin as I had so many duplicate letters I was stumped.
Did anyone win anything, even a minor prize?
