jogger, don't be facetious
Now tell the nice person what they *want* to hear not what you want to tell them ;P
Of course the bank can't add charges onto your debt darling. After all if you borrow money why on earth should you have to pay it back or have interest and charges added to the default amount? They really aren't being very fair to you hunnykins are they?
You get on that phone to them and tell them No, you are not allowed to add charged because those nice people at AB told me you can't
Of course they can - you owe them money and they are allowed to charge you, it will be in the terms and conditions of your account/credit card/loan or whatever. If you don't like it, pay your debts.
Of course, depending on the outcome of the test case you may be able to claim the charges back at a later date...
yes they can - if you are in financial trouble and need to stop your situation getting worse, go to the cab and get them to help you. they can approach lenders, get them to stop charging interest and negotiate affordable repayments while things are tough. there are long term consequences of doing this (sometimes bailliffs can get involved, ccj's or even bankruptcy) but surely it has to be better than struggling, stressing and making the original problem a whole lot worse? do something now!
well PINK-KITTENS there is no need to be rude, i was asking as a friend of mine is in a bit of financial bother at the moment, i think you comment is Patronising when you dont even know why the questions is being asked
No they can't, the law has already stated that the charges are extautionate and so you are in your right to claim it back! Martin Lewis has a website explaining how to get it back!
If you have not set up an 'arrangement' with the bank then they will make charges.
Banks usually phone/write to warn u when the account is overdrawn. An explanation from you then, ie give me an overdraft for 2k as am exploring the 'Arctic for science' may be arranged. Then you wont be charged!
