I haven't heard of bailiffs going to anyone's house before but a few months ago the DVLA used a large car park near where I work to quarrantine cars that had no tax on them. Every day there was cars added there (even a Lotus at one point!). I know that the owner was alerted as to where his/her vehicle was and they had to pay a fine, plus the cost of the road tax for it to be released. If you didn't claim it or pay up, your car was crushed a week later.

That went on for around a month or so.
