Extremely smelly people!
23 Answers
I was in the Post Office today and in front of me was an oldish quite overweight woman who smelt absolutely disgusting! It wasn't just a bit whiffy I mean really rotten stale horrible smell to the point where I was practically gagging. I just wondered how an earth she has ended up as bad as that and if she would be getting any help. I mean she can't have had a bath for around a year at least. Who helps these people?

Firstly they will sweat a lot and secondly, it is difficult for them to physically reach and cleanse intimate areas. I remember a lovely 35 year old patient, 25 stones, two of us were washing her, my colleague shifted her stomach so I could wash her groin area, it was sore, cracked and full of maggots. We never told her, I think she would have been devasted. This lovely lady had terrible arthritis.
Another that springs to mind is a 40 year old tramp who was delivered to us via A&E, the porters brought him to the ward in a body-bag. this guy was a tribute to the parasitic world. He was jumping, creeping, you name it, he was a main man host, When we had him stabiised and generally de-loused, we took him into the shower unit and jet washed him, then a nurse who had previously trained as a hairdresser trimmed his hair and beard. When the the next shift came on, none of then reconized him.
