We want to go to Oz in oct/nov. What are your must see locations?

How much time will you be here for and where will you be arriving, east or west coast? we can help you work out a plan from there.
The weather is perfect in November, it's a great time to visit.

We planned to arrive in Sydney, the whole trip will be 3weeks. Had hoped to go up to Cairns region for a bit of R &R

Sydney (could you drive to Melbourne, maybe via Canberra? Aussies don't rate Canberra but I found it attractive).

Cairns and Barrier Reef.

Ayers Rock (Uluru) and Alice Springs.

Adelaide and wine country.

Perth and beaches and wine country.

In roughly that order. I wouldn't try to cram Darwin and crocodiles in in 3 weeks, and Perth may also be a bit out of the way unless you're going in that direction.

Or you could just concentrate on the south-east, Sydney, Melbourne, drives along the coast or out into the bush, plenty of beaches to relax on, plenty of shops in the cities.

Many thanks to you both. Concentrating on the south east is worth a thought, problem is there is so much to see in relatively short period of time. The Blue Mountains has also been suggested as worth a visit.

Take a peek at www.adventuretours.com.au and see if there is something there that appeals to you, they do a great Sydney - Cairns tour for 14 days taking in places like Byron Bay, the Whitsunday Islands and other fabulous places, or have a look at www.ozexperience.com.au if you want to be more independent and do your own thing. Either way I hope you have a ball.

10 years ago we had 2 weeks there: arrived early (from Fidji) at Sydney stayed one night (did hop on hop off and walked around the harbour, next day botanic gardens. Flight to Adelaide 2 night stop with day at Kangeroo Island, Flight upto Alice Springs visited Desert Garden next day coach trip to Ayers Rock stayed overnight after seeing sun set on Uluru, Flight over to Cairns stayed 3 nights visiting Great Barrier Reef and next day tropical forest. Flight down to Melbourne stayed 2 nights with a visit to Philip Island to see Fairy penguins come onto beach at night then 3 nights in Hobart (Tasmania) with family.
Every day was busy but really enjoyed it all. Booked through Co-op who gave us 2 free internal flights and not expensive at all.

Rooboru, I've looked at those websites you suggested, very helpful. I think we will do the more independent option as we want to spend a few days doing the sights in Sydney and I do want to see Uluru

You can't come all this way and not experience the Red Centre, Uluru, Kings Canyon and even Alice Springs for a camel tour. Having a beer around a desert campfire is something you will remember forever, and stars, you won't believe how many there are up there in the heavens.
I live on the west coast and the only stretch not travelled is between Katherine NT and Broome WA.
Honestly, once you have been and seen, you won't want to go home. Maybe next time you can stay for a longer visit.

Being an Ozi on hols here in uk..I suggest you head straight for the Gold Coast in qld,rent a car,see Natural Bridge,Tamborine Mountain then a BIG secret...jump on the boat to Tangalooma where you will see everything you would see on great barrier reef..feed dolphins scuba dive etc..takes only an hour..google tangalooma..stay overnight..head to Cairns..if you Must.See Sydney and Perth really is fantasic..see \Rottnest island ...the most important thing is to make sure you have a stop over on your way to Gods own country as its a draggggg flying..but wonderful when you get there!!!Have fun..watch out for RiPS when swimming in sea..You'll have a fab time!!!xx
