Eel is usually cooked with the bones in (i.e not filleted). Bear in mind that eels are round, they have one central backbone (like monkfish) and their ribs run off that. Once the eel is cooked, you can easily remove the 'fillets' from each side of the backbone using whatever cutlery you have to hand - no special equipment required. Enjoy! I know I would!

This is by far the best Pie and mash shop in the world, as Uncle Raymondo will no doubt agree, and he's in bloody Wales!!!!
If you click on the left tab and about our food. Scroll down and it gives you the life cycle of their eels.
They are very nice. I prefer stewed hot ones as opposed to jellied ones. And make sure you put loads of vinegar on them and also on your pie and mash!!!

Hi Abdulmajid, are you a big Bowie fan? That is not only the name of one of his lesser known tracks, but happens to be his wife's (Iman) surname, as she is from Somalia.
Thanks for your input on eels,. by the way, and all the other respondents, it is much apprciated.

Indeed I am. Bowie is a God. As are the Beach Boys as well.
Regarding delivery, raysparx (Uncle Raymondo) has pies etc delivered on a regular basis.
If you don't venture in to chatterbank I shall make him aware and get him to respond with opinion.
Manze's is by far the best I have ever had, and I have had lots of pie and mash over the years.

Hi Rod, when first trying eels I would say avoid the jellied eels they are an aquired taste, stewed eels are nice, they do have bones in, just try a little bit, and persevere with it you will then enjoy them, as for Manzes, I used to live just round the corner from them, and in my opinion they are as abdul says the best in London, we often order pie n mash, it is always really fresh and always arrives well packed and on time, remember to eat it properly, plenty of vinegar and pepper and use a spoon and fork to eat with, never a knife and fork, the idea of putting a parsley sauce over mash and a steak pie might sound revolting but it is the best grub ever, order with confidence and hope you enjoy, Ray
