Is it against the law to not present a sick note?

my doc has signed me off work for 2 weeks but my boss, and colleagues are not the best and think it will make things worse for me not better (dont worry im looking for another job) plus i only get stautory minimum sick pay o cant really afford it. Am i Allowed to chuck it away and not present it to my employer? what would the ramifications be?

I dont understand what youre asking. Do you mean you want to go into work while signed off sick? Or are you talking about going off sick but not giving the sick note to your employer?

sorry, im not thinking straight with worry. my doctor has given me a sick note. i dont want to use it. i want to go to work on monday.
If you were to fall ill in work and you already have a sick note, your employer is no longer insured to have you on their premesis. You leagally have to hand in a sick not!

If you want to work, then you have to have another form to say you r are fit for work or that your sick not paper has run out!

thats what i thought, oh dear, though i doubt that would bother him, most of his staff dont officially work there...iykwim
Sounds like your boss isn't doing things like they should anyway! If you want to go back to work then I would go see your Dr again to get a note to say you are fit for work. But if you are ill, then don't go!

Is it that bad you feel you have to go in?

pretty much yes, if i didnt need the money i wouldnt. my job is a big part of whats making me unwell. but i'm worried about it affecting my chances at getting another job.
If you don't mind me asking, what do you do?

I've just written my resignation for a job that was too stressful for me! Just had to be done in the end!

honestly? i dont know. my job title is office manager, but so is everyone elses. my MD refuses to provide us with a statement of employment. iknow this is illegal but dont want o make life difficult for the colleagues i actually like, or me for that matter.

How can i do my job when i dont know what it is, especially after 14 months.
Sign off sick and take time to recover your health and your composure. Life will go on, and stacking shelves would be better than the toerag you work for now.
yeah, be off sick but use the time to look for another job
Is it a large organisation? Is there no one else you can talk to about your job description etc?

no, ive discussed it with the accounts department who have strongly advised him to do this and he says no, he says he doesnt care if he gets sued, though oddly enough others have tried and not gotten far, think hes a dangerous man TBH.

but how is this sick period going to look to a prospective employer? And our motgage is up for renewal.......
if you go to a doctor for a diagnosis it is not compulsory for you to accept a sick note (unless you have a notifiable disease),
