Faddy diet danger

There are many posts on this site asking if certain diets, tablets, powders and so on work.

I always advise against anything except 'eat a varied diet, eat smaller portions, cut out snacks and exercise more'.

I never thought drinking more water and cutting salt could cause brain damage.

that story is shocking Ethel. I knew you had to have some salt in your diet but I would have thought because there is so much salt in everything these days it would be best to cut down. Usually drinking lots of water too is good for you!

Yes, tigwig. Just the other day somebody here was thinking of taking diuretics to lose weight.
I hope she decided against it.
Perhaps if everyone realised that the word diet comes from the Greek word DIAITA which means MANNER OF LIVING they will understand that you should be changing your total way of life to a healthier regime - not looking for a quick fix and then reverting to bad habits. This is what most people do and normally end up putting on more weight that they lost.
