downloading mp3

from various free websites when i download mp3 songs my computer will only save them as mpga in my music folder which I cannot move to or play in itunes. i know than can be downloaded into my music then moved to itunes as mp3 as i have done it on another computer. is there a setting that i need to change. I am running xp
