Registration of marriage
5 Answers
I am a UK resident, I have recently married a man from Ghana, we married in Ghana at the court, therefore it was a legal wedding. I have my marriage certificate, please can anyone tell me how I register this marriage in the UK, also is there a legal time limit on changing your name to your married name?

Dear in a pickle, Thank you for your response. It is nice to hear from someone positive about my husband, I am sure you have read the replies on my other post. I will change my name in the UK as I do want to use my married name. As for as his visa goes I am DEVASTATED that he is not able to come to uk this weekend as planned. There are many "illegal" immigrants here in the UK, I do understand that foreigners come here and do not return home, however, I am a honest person and so is my husband. He had every intention to return home after his visit, infact we was already planning his next visit for the month of December!! We are happy with our "long distance" relationship, it suits us, we speak to each other every day and trust is not an issue. We know that we will be together and living in HIS home country within the next couple of years. I am really sad and dissapointed I was really looking forward to seeing him and it would make a change for him to do the commuting (Africa ia a long way and even though it is worth it I am thoroughly excausted when I get back to the UK, it takes me about a week to get over my jet lag)!!. Sorry to go on, but I feel like I have no one else to talk to!
