A friend is carpeting the stairs of an old three storey terraced house. Does anyone have any idea how much it would cost with a reasonable carpet two flights of stairs
I don't know the answer, sorry..but when I got mine done a few years ago the price was more than doubled because I need new grippers and underlay.. just something (else) to consider!
But can you give me any idea roughly of the cost that you paid if you dont mind that is We dont want to get too much of a shock when we come to get estimates.
It depends on what price you pay for the carpet. They range from about 10 per square metre upwards. An average one is about 20 per square metre plus underlay at around 6psq. Then just measure the stairs and work out the area and then add on the fitting cost which will vary and can be negotiated.
We never thought about all the hidden costs that Sara3 mentioned. Just thought a case of pulling up one carpet and replacing it with another. Until I help get it ripped up we dont know what state the stairs etc are going to be in as its an old house. It probably will need all new underlay.
Thanks anyway for your help
Just in case anyone is interested, we got a quote for stairs carpet and underlay and edge grippers and its a reasonable carpet around 6 psq m. Quoted 360 all in.
There is only one landing as the stairs finish in the kitchen area. My friend has had these carpet people before and was quite satisfied with the work. I dont think thats bad. I expected it to be a lot more than that. What do you think
