Question on Diclofenic

I've been prescribed Diclofenic (don't know if that's the correct spelling!) for bad back pain (one tablet, three times a day). I know I have to take it with food but just wondering if you're meant to avoid alcohol while taking these (like with antibiotics)? I know what answer I'm hoping for ...!!!

I take them when my back goes, I never bother about the no alcohol warning, It doesn`t send you mental, it just takes longer to kick in, the alcohol probably does a better job anyway

Not sure about the alcohol. I don't remember my doctor saying anything to me when he prescribed them. but I'm sure your doctor will tell you if you ring them.

I do know that when I was on these with my bad back, I felt sick all the time. They also made me very constipated.

I eventually came off them and instead took nurofen and paracetomal, alternating between the two. Although it did effect my "movements" it wasn't as bad as Diclofenic.

I was taking them for a while but my GP took me off them because they were linked to heart attacks

I've heard that they can cause constipation (and not looking forward to that). Have only taken one so far so can't make any comments as yet. Pain hasn't magically disappeared yet - but then I didn't expect it to! Another question, can you take any other painkillers while you're taking these, ie I've got a bad head too (I'm falling apart) - can I take anything for that?

Take 10 a day , you won't need the alcohol then . Woo hoo!

yes, you do have to avoid alcohol while taking diclofenac . alcohol can increase the risk of stomach bleeding caused by diclofenac. you should have a leaflet with your tablets which explains this.

you can take paracetamol at the same time as diclofenac

They are an anti- inflammatory, so you can't take ibuprofen or aspirin, but paracetamol should be ok. Don't take them on an empty stomach though x

I stopped taking my Diclofenac after I was diagnosed with Gastro Oesophageal Reflux Disease (G.O.R.D.). My pain specialist said that for some people they can do more harm than good. I would avoid alcohol whilst on them as it can add to the possible side effect of stomach problems and may prevent the drug being absorbed in the proper way.
