Another thing; I used to date an undertaker and helped out in the funeral parlour from time to time. Seeing people (the bereaved) at their most vulnerable and needy very quickly gets to you. It's hard to detach yourself. Yo also become attached, in a strange way, to the deceased because you know they were loved by these bereft people. I found myself talking to them and saying 'goodnight' to them when I closed up in the evening! I wonder if working in a morgue, without the contact with the deceased loved ones is different??
