Exactly a year ago today I saw a horrible accident where someone was killed almost instantly. I was first to the person and knew straight away that they were gone but my brain could not comprehend it. It really shook me up and I hope I never see anything like it again.

I really re-evaluated my life after this as I realised how quickly your life can be taken from you. A year on and I was reflecting this morning on how I have overcome major problems I had a year ago and my life is really on track and how I want it to be. I think its changed because of what I saw made me more grateful of my life and the things I do have.

Do you think some good can come out of everything no matter how terrible it is? Have you ever had something happen which made you think twice?

Oh hun I am sorry to hear that you saw that, in answer to your question I do believe that the things that we see and experience in our lives can change us for better or worse. You could have taken a different route out of all this and let it affect you in a negative way but you chose to use this experience in a positive way and made good changes to your life so well done you!!
My life has changes in a very very big way this year I was preganant with my second child who had to be delivered over 3 months early and my life changed when I was well enough to see her. Staring into an incubator at my 1lb 15oz baby girl fighting to live changed my perspective on life forever. I am greatful for the little things and honestly take nothing for granted and I too have made some big changes to my life for the better. My baby has just recoverd from surgery but apart from that she is healthy and I feel honoured that I am able to put her and her sister to bed every night like you said life can be taken away very quickly without a moments notice.
I hope that you manage to move on with your life and make good things happen if all of this happens to you because of what you saw then maybe the death of that person was not totally in vain? I wish you all the best for the future x x
I tend to not argue about silly things so much since getting with my bloke, he got through cancer and it didnt faze him at all at such a young age. So I look at things now and silly arguments can be.
we've been through some traumatic times in our life with ourselves and the children and no matter how you are suffering and the grief/disappointment/life not treating you fairly etc... you go through, you then always see (on tv or otherwise) or in our case the childrens ward where our son was, that there are other people who are going through a tougher time then yourselves & it puts your life & situation into prospective.
Thank god there are still some kind hearted folk out there that'll stop and help & give some of their time and help those who are in need.
I'm a great believer in things happen for a reason.
