Living in a caravan in garden

My boyfriend and I want to live in a caravan in his dad's back garden. We are currently living in the house but need to give our bedroom to my boyfriend's little brother. We would still use the bathroom in the house and would also cook in there most of the time. Would we get into trouble with the council if we did this? The caravan would be tucked in the back garden and would not be seen my many of the neighbours. If anyone has any information it would be a great help. Thank you
