MSN messenger

How can a different person with the same username as one of my friends I have on messenger suddenly appear on my messenger the only difference in username being a lower dash.There is also a photo of that person on the messenger screen and it is certainly not my friend.This friend I know personally and it has got nothing to do with her.I always thought you had to invite a person to your messenger.So how did this one get on uninvited.

usally you do have 2 invite the other person 2 talk 2 you.
may be you coluld change your msn details and tell your friend.

Thank you for replies and you have a point but why would I invite my friend again when she is already on my messenger. only thing I can do is leave it there in the meantime and wait till I see it lit up . I have already sent back a messae but still no reply. I have been on messenger 4 years and this is first time I have come accross this.
