when the car is closed for the night , usually when you return home the interior is still warm and humid and therefore the outside will freeze over. if you leave the dorrs open in order that the temperatures equalise the windows will not freeze over

thx for the answer but why dont house windows freeze then ?

surely the home is warmer than the outside ?

Turn off your central heating and (assuming you don't have double glazing) see what happens.
I believe it all has to do with air circulation. The cold air circulates through the shed, greenhouse and outhouse alot easier than your home or car. Some single pane windows in the home do freeze up. the warm air in the car causes condensation on the windows and then it freezes when the temp drops. even if you dont frive the car for days, the sun still warms the car. I'll stop boring you now because thats all i can come up with but i'm sure it all has to do with inside temperature an air circulatoin.
That happened to my car the other morning,But the neighbours car didnt have any ice on the windows?and he doesent start his car up till an hour after mine.Unfair or what!!
maybe it was already past the ferrzing point when they got home
sorry i meant freezing
Em,Still unfair Peanut!!

Posters are right, it involves the principal of equal temperature and humidity. Imagine a barber shop on a cold day. The windows are fully condensated due to the high temperature internal air and the low temperature external air.

If you have air conditioning in your car try putting this on with your heating at the same time, it de mists your windows a lot quicker and helps when de icing.

My car has a thermoprobe in the windscreen which keeps the screen warm below freezing to avoid icing, it is a good idea and will be standard in a bit!

Ok this may seem like a silly reply but isn't it just because the windscreen in a car is at more of an angle than the vertical windows of your house/shed?  Even though the precipitation or whatever it is that freezes would run off the window, less of it would than would from a vertical window so there would be more moisture to freeze.

The answer is to do with fairies that live at the bottom of the garden. Although they get up early they are sometimes caught out by you taking the car in the mornings. They start work nearest to their homes, typically the shed being the most convenient point, they then work they way forwards to the house. As the car is usually parked at the front of the house, it is the last windows that they reach. Vinny, your answer will depend where your neighbour lives in relation to you. If he/she lives to the east of your house, his/her fairies will awaken slightly earlier as the sun rises in the east and hence the car will be cleared before yours.

So ,Now my neighbours have got better fairies than i have.Do you think i could bribe them to do my car instead!!

Vinny

Before parting with money, try parking your car in front of your neighbours house after they go to bed. As far as I know the fairies will clear anything on their patch regardless of who holds the registration document (I think this has been tested in lab conditions with company cars).
