Gypsy families are really close knit. It makes it harder to explore your sexuality if you live so close to your family. Family is also really important and therefore early marriage and having kids young is also the norm. I think many gay and bi gypsies are steered into marriage but ultimately if you're gay, you're gay and the gypsies I've known have been incredibly tolerant of others. It's a shame the rest of society isn't as tolerant towards gypsies.
Im a gay Traveller and live in Belfast. Some Travellers are very strict, depends on the family group, but my family and my bf's family (who are Travellers) are very open to the fact that we are gay and living together. I know a gay Traveller who left his home and came to stay with us here. He is away again to live in England
