Anyone identify this short story

I remember when I was at school, studying a short story about a group of young men, the character names were Noble, and another one was possibly Bonaparte. The only thing I remember about the story line was that some off them were taken aside and murdered n some way. Anyone any ideas what this could have been? I would love to read it again
