I have a question for all the atheists who give answers here on answerbank and who always fervently stand up for their beliefs, or lack of as the case may be. My question is in relation to real life situations where in conversation with someone else the topic of religion comes up. If, for example, you were talking to someone and they mentioned god in relation to what you were discussing would you
1. Just agree with them
2. Tell them you don't believe in god
3. Try to turn the conversation so that you don't have to be at odds with your true feelings;
or something else which may be the case. I find if you mention atheism a lot of people are horrified.
By the way I'm more talking here about in conversation with people you wouldn't necessarily interact with on a regular basis, rather than amongst your friends.

If as you say he did forbid alcohol then why was the first mirical performed was turning water into wine?
Both I think you will find are responsible for ja lot of blood shed in their time.
Or do you think that the blood shed in any war between christianity and Islam, was all spilled by the christians.

I am at the end of the day a human. I am flawed and faulted in many ways.
I cannot be good all the time and am as vunarable to weekness as any one else and don't tell me the people of Islam are not because they are.

Your religion might tell you that Jesus forbade alcohol, but he didn't. As Tigerlily says, he turned water into wine once - for a wedding feast. Maybe you should read the accounts written long before your religion was invented or your book written.

You see Mibs, when you were a kid, did you have faith / fear in your old feller telling you not to run out into the road as it was bad for you, or did you reason that it was fun? No, you had faith in a higher power, your Dad!
Now to those of us who live by faith, we are not intellectually inferior, and have the same five windows as you, to ponder the universe. Mind you, most of us are busy pondering how to deal with day to day problems and pay the bills rather than wondering in awe at the stars. But i digress!
Have you ever considered that a leap of faith just maybe one step ahead of your logic and reason?
As an old bar propper, supping on his pint used to say, "Son, take heed! When you know it all, that's a sign that you know f**k all!" (Pardone my French!)

I got into an argument with a Muslim cab driver a few years ago all because I'd said to him I was atheist. We were having a discussion which started out about politics which ended up with me trying to defend own beliefs. He couldn't believe that having been born a (non-practicing) Muslim, that I'd decided against it at a very early age and that nothing could ever persuade me otherwise. I made the mistake of saying to him that I could never convert to a religion which had no respect for women. Can't quite remember what happened after that as his voice became rather abrupt, however luckily we'd arrived at Clapham for my cousins civil partnership ceremony. He was not impressed when I told him about that either! Lol

Ahh about books. I know that there were lot more books than the ones used and accepted now. They were rejected by Christians themselves as they had doubt about them. I even read something (might not be true) about leaving different bibles written on a table and table was shaken by few prominent priests and the books stayed on the table were considered word of God and the fallen ones were rejected. Are you aware of any thing like that. Serious question.
