I have recently purchased a pair of designer spectacles, most of the modern designer specs frames of today tend to have rather thick side wings.

Has anyone else noticed that they are not the best type of spectacles to drive in? This is due to the fact that one's side vision is impaired due to the thickness of the frame's side wings.

Yes I have - and the tiny lenses are hopeless for driving too - you can't see out the lenses when looking backwards or sideways.

I have a pair of 'old fashioned' glasses for driving, with nice big lens and thin arms.
I have to buy specs from the children + teen range due to my unfeasibily small head :-(
I've never bought a pair of designer specs before. The ones I usually go for the thin metal rimmed ones that are 70 or less from Specsavers and I can get them paid for by work which includes the eyesight tests. The lenes are getting thicker though due to my sight failing as the years go by but I mostly wear contact lenes.

I think they should make an annual medical for folk over 65 as they do on the continent
