I have ended up with 2 half tins of the same coloured paint after decorating. The only difference in the paints being one is matt emulsion and one is silk emulsion. The difference in the finish isnt huge, the silk is just slightly more shiny. My question is, would it be ok to mix these two paints into one tin, to use from one tin? Thanks.

I remember mixing matt & silk emulsion many years ago, used it to paint a small room it never dried properly

it was always a bit tacky.

Provided that the two cans of paint are from the same manufacturer there should not be a problem. Remember not to use the new mix for touching up your matt or vynil surfaces because the difference in sheen will notice - unless its behind the sofa !
