Has anyone got one of these? Can you roast a joint in it?
And do you think it was a good buy?

Hi Ethel!
I love my microwave use it every day. I cook most of my vegetables in it, cook a very nice ratatouille, cauliflower cheese, cheese souffl, vegetable soup, scrambled eggs, rice pudding, make my coffee (two minutes and its the right temperature for me to drink straight away), hot-chocolate, and re-heat all sorts.
Im not keen on a microwaved jacket potato though somehow the taste just isnt there for me. Mind you, I pre-cook my jacket spuds for a short while in the microwave, just to start them off, and then put them in the ordinary oven.
What I cant cook successfully in it, is a roast. I get a steamed effect. Trial and error is the key with microwave cooking, and I have experimented, but I think that due to the nature of the cooking, Im never gonna get a roast taste.
Ive had a good run for my money with my microwave - its over twenty years old. Still going strong, except for the internal bulb. Its only a 600 watt model though, and that was powerful when I bought it.
