It could be Carpal tunnel Syndrome.
Get your Gp to check it out.
Make sure you stop doing anything which aggravates it as much as possible and keep it well supported.

Have the XRay results come back yet?

Have they done any blood tests?
Any chance it could be arthritis, considering you've had investigations and a doctor has diagnosed it as arthritis??!
Is it red and hot.....if so, then arthritis. Keep it supported and freezing helps. Use bag of frozen peas. arthritis is painful too.
Burning sensation, weakness of the wrist BUT no mention of PAIN!!!

no x-ray results as yet, thanks for your advice everyone, oh by the way its my wifes problem ,occupation houswife.
Thanks, jen78 seems to be on the right track.
Could it be RSI? I get a lot of pain in my right wrist, I can't pout any weight on it and it needs supporting. I work at a desk all day and am right handed and I found that when I had time off work - holidays, bank holiday, sickness, maternity, etc the pain would stop. You can get wrist supports for your wrist and also for your keyboard and mouse if you find this to be the case, you could also try an ergonomic keyboard or mouse.
I was told by my osteopath that a burning sensation is often the first sign of arthritis in a joint and that this sensation often disappears once the joint becomes painful. This is what happened in my case.

I think your doctor could well be right!
