New Tenancy - Landlord insists states Furnished when not!
2 Answers
Hi, my new landlord has given me asix month tenancy agreement which states furnished. I didnt notice this when i signed it. Not moved in yet but asked for it to be changed for the DSS, but he says he wont do it. Says he gets a tax break for offering furnished and will up the rent if i wont agree. if necessary he says he will furnish it which is no good as i have my own furniture. Supposed to move in next week and already paid first months rent. He doesnt do deposits, just have to be one months rent in advance at all times. I am beginning to feel he is trying to fleece me and am not happy he is asking me to lie to the DSS. Should I stand my ground and insist on an unfurnished agreement? What would be the disadvantages? Please help! Single mum and scared!

And it's in your interests to be with a landlord you can trust. It's difficult with moving next week but act fast and try and do what's best for you.
Have you also signed an inventory showing you are supplied with furniture? If so, at least get that amended or you could lose your furniture if you move out.
