Yes, merry Christmas all. And in case anyone's wondering (and I'm not vain enough to think that they actually are!), I don't actually speak for the Listener solvers when I post messages on here.
I speak as a Listener setter, and one who knows that my views are shared by a substantial number of other Listener setters, who don't like to see what might be quite literally hundreds of hours of work setting a puzzle demeaned by message boards discussing the solutions prior to publication.
And yes, only the Silver Salver winner actually gets a free dinner these days. The setters, other all-corrects, and guests all get to pay.
