This is a very, very long shot but i thought i'd give it a go.

About 10 or 15 years ago i watched a short film (maybe 10 or 20 mins). Im pretty sure it was called "The Power of Ten" (as in X10). it showed a view of someone sitting in a park then the same view 10 times as far away an so on until the viewer was looking from outerspace. It then zoomed back to its starting place and did the same thing only this time zooming in by 10 times until you were looking at the smallest cell inside the person in the park.

I think it was probably American as i seem to remember its narrator was American.

Does anyone have the faintest idea what i'm going on about? I would love to see it again.

Thanks for looking.

I remember watching it on "Bloop Eater" in about 1977.  I don't know what it was called, but I think it was only about 2 or 3 minutes rather than 10 or 20 minutes.

I saw this at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago in 1999. It's called Powers of Ten by Charles and Ray Eames, is set in Grants Park Chicago and bernardo is spot on with the year 1977. There is a website here;

http://powersof10.com/powers/explore.php

that explains a bit about the making of the film. Indeed, the whole venture seems to have become a marketable concept at one time, with Power of Ten days, CD's, posters and other products.

Nevertheless I remember it as a remarkable film.

... and it's available on video and DVD from that site.

Yep, I remember it too.

Didn't it also focus on a mosquito that was bitimg the man's arm when it zoomed back in?

I agree with brachiopod - there was also a short animated film called Cosmic Zoom, made by Canadian art students in 1968, which started with a boy rowing on a lake. After going 'outer space' it then zoomed into the cells of a mosquito on the boy's arm.

That's the one I was thinking of, delboy. From a brief description, both films sound similar.
