Hi there. I have just made a chilli for tonight. I normally use fresh chillies. but today used chilli flakes. Its too HOT! Is there anything I can do to calm it down a bit please. Many thanks, you ABers always come up trumps:)
1. add mash potato to take away some of the heat.
2. add chunks of potatoes and cook, but you don't have to serve the potatoes.
3. add another tin of tomatoes and cook to mix in.
4. add some more kidney beans and cook.
5. all of the above.
i was once tol mexicans put grated plain (definately not cadburys dairy milk lol ) chocolate in chilli to counter act the burn, don`t know if it works as i don`t like chilli lol
You could serve up some lassi (a milk drink) in a glass or, as Kev says, some plain yoghurt in little bowls alongside the chilli dish - it will definitely reduce the spiciness and means that if anyone actually wants it really hot, they don't have to eat the yoghurt !
