I'm planning to drive to Leeds from Bristol, in my fiat punto - 1.2 engine. And would like to know how much it would cost roughly? It will possibly be and one other person in the car. Would be great if someone could answer my question :) Cheers x
Estimate the length of journey. Find out what fuel consumption your car has for that type of journey - (miles per litre/ miles per gallon and convert to litres. then multiply by the cost per litre.
Rough guess without usinga calculator or knowing your car- 40?
I would guess at about 25.00 - 210 miles from bristol to leeds / punto does about 40 to the gallon / petrol about 5 per gallon. So you will use about 5 gallons of petrol.
I didn't buy it.
My dad gave it to me after my first car was written off.
Didn't really have a choice in the matter.
What would you suggest woul be the best car with a small engine?
But yeah I found it quite funny haha !
My figure of 40 was for the round trip- and I was assuming you'd chug along in the same lane at a constant 60 miles an hour (maximum speed) for maximum fuel efficiency. With traffic jams i suppose it would be more like 50.
Don't forget though, this type of journey has hiden costs- wear and tear on the engine and tyres , oil, risk of accidents. The true cost of is usually considered to be 40 p a mile- so that's 200 forthe round trip then!
This is just irresistable- I lied about driving a punto - I bought one once didnt like it and tried to give it to my daughter too - She gave it away to a friend ( Who no longer speaks to her! ).
I shouldnt comment about other small cars because I hate them all.
Well I can't afford to hate them.
Being a full time student.
And thanks factor30, I'll take it all into consideration.
May be cheaper to get the train... oh joy
