was looking through the bbc football forums yesterday and one poster had put a post wishing benitez all the best with his operation, the 11th reply was from a manure fan who typed " i hope he dies" does anti benitez feeling really run that deep among certain people? i have never seen a manager who inspires such ill feeling, even i admired mourinho and actual miss him from the premiership, and i even give fergie grudging respect, surely comments like that above are beyond the pale

I agree with Steve, although some of the abuse you hear at grounds these days is just as vile. My lot, I am sorry to say, are amongst the worst offenders. "Should have died in the tunnel" was aimed at Ronaldo after his car crash (although to be fair, it would probably have been any set of fans). Frank Lampard was subject to dog's abuse following the death of his mother, for heavens sake. Liverpool "fans" attacked an ambulance taking Alan Smith to hospital. There are the morons who like to "remind" Man Utd fans about Munich and Liverpool fans about Heysel and Hillsborough. Sol Campbell at Spurs etc. etc. The list goes on and on.
What about the good old days, when I could stand on the terraces and chant "Come on, Chelsea", and "Ee-aye-addio, we're gonna win the cup". Unfortunately, like a lot of things, they are consigned to history.
