opening the toothpaste

for the last 10 minutes I have been trying to open the pump type bottle of toothpaste. without risking life or limb how do you do it. I have tried my teeth but a bit worried about that having just had a lot of dental treatment.

scissors didnt work, and a knife well one slip and it would be a visit to A and E. any advice please.

meanwhile my teeth r minging while I try to open it.....wheres the mouth wash.

I used my fingers to prise off the little plastic tab

This is one of my personal bugbears. I usually have to hunt for my reading specs and a pair of scissors to tackle the toothpaste, and then hunt for an elastoplast for whichever finger I've cut.
It's the same with Sure deodorant aerosol as well.
