So, Obama took the oath for a second time last night in the White House - BUT NO BIBLE!

I remember thinking at the time that the oath might be invalid if the words were fluffed.

Therefore the second oath was the only valid one. Why no Bible? Apparently none was close to hand. Poppycock! They surely must have had 5 or 10 minutes warning about the repeat ceremony? No Bible could be found in the White House?

Thus the President of the USA has taken an oath without Scripture - and the reason is surely obvious - this is because it is the start of the serious Islamisation of the Western World, with Obama in the van.

Why has prince charles declared himself "defender of the faiths" and not faith, When the edict that he will swear by and has been in force since King Alfred, states that he will swear on the bible in the name of Jesus Christ. For a clearer indication of this read the book "The trumpet sounds for britain"

Barack Obama is the 44th President of the good ol' US of A. Why does he have to be descibed as the first African-American President?

If I was Obama, this would get right in my tits as they are defining him by his colour.

Good for him I say - I hope he does a sterling job, and couldn't give a tinker's cuss what colour he is

I cannot agree or disagree with flobbergob's last paragraph, and neither can anyone else on this site. We just do not know, stranger things have happened.

It is interesting to note that when Bush fluffed his words, he was ridiculed all over the media, why not Barack Obama?

His late White mum brought him up when his father left, when Barack was only two. Why then does he wish to be classed as Black?

Hi Flip Flop, I know that this is momentous event in history bearing in mind the struggle for civil rights, and I don't want to minimise that, but I do feel the more people (of all shades and hues) bang on about colour, the more people think about it and the more of an issue it remains. Hopefully having a black president of the USA will make it less so. Wouldn't that be fantastic?

AOG, you're priceless. You start your post by complaining about people not sticking to the question, and going off at a tangent, and then you proceed to go off at a tangent yourself by asking other questions.

To answer your first one - I don't think anyone can deny that George Bush is a bit of a plonker, to say the least. Maybe that's why he was ridiculed.

As for your second one, some time ago I put this question to a friend who has a black father and a white mother. Her skin is white - you would never guess she�s the product of a mixed race marriage - but she tells me that she considers herself to be black, simply because her father is black. I don't know if others of mixed race feel the same way. Perhaps they'll tell us.

I don't mind you having a dig at me, but please don't accuse me of things I haven't done.

I did not go off at any tangents, if you had noticed after concluding my contribution to flobbergob's question, I then typed lines under these comments.

I then procceded to use the space to ask my own questions, regarding Barack Obama, instead of pushing posts off the bottom of the News site by posting my two separate questions. Questions which were not in anyway designed to draw any potential posters away from the original post.

Unlike some other posters on this site who when they do not wish to discuss uncomfortable facts that are laid before them, constantly post comments that are irrelevant to the facts.

In the circumstances naomi24, I think you owe me an apology.

The wording of the Oath is set out in the American Constitution and it was the Chief Justice who got it wrong not. Obama. Obama initially uttered the correct phrase but obviously followed the Justice's lead and repeated his incorrect words. As for a lack of Bibles, there is no need for a Bible for the Oath and God is not mentioned at any point in the Oath.

Tangent time: Obama is truly an African -American,having a Kenyan father. Dr Martin Luther King,in his "I have a dream" speech, refers throughout to "negroes" and " the negro" .When did every "negro" in America become an "African -American" ?

fredpuli, negro seemed to go out of fashion in the early 70s, possibly because it is too obviously colour-based to be a useful desription of anything, possibly because it was just too close to 'n*gger' for comfort.

TCL, didn't he conclude the oath with the words 'so help you God' (from the judge) and 'so help me God' (from Obama)? Perhaps they are not strictly part of the oath.

They do say "So help me God" but that is not part of the Oath as written in the Constitution. Strangely, in the Oath given by Vice-Presidents, "So help me God" IS part of the Oath.
