laptop probs

My son's laptop is freezing up after being on for a minute or so. any ideas, I've done the standard stuff like running antivirus, anti malware,anti adware and the program says there is no virus. He has down loaded aprogram called antivirus 2009 lately and I think its this but I can't find it in the registry. i was thinking of running defrag but i don't think that'll do much.

Any help would be appreciated.
