Egypt has a 220V supply (at 50Hz) which, for all practical purpose, is the same as the UK's 230V supply (at 50Hz). So you won't need any form of transformer. A simple plug adapter will do. Egyptian plugs look like this:

That, of course, assumes that you'll be staying in a hotel. If you're spending every night on board the ship you'll have to consult the shipping company's website for details of the electrical supply on their vessels.

Thanks, Buenchico for both answers. It appears you get your visa when you get there- will have to see the plug situation when we get on board ship/
If you are going to a hot dry country, and cruising on the Nile therefor guaranteed a pleasant breeze - why are you taking a hairdryer?
Who are you going with? A lot of cruise ships have hairdryers in the cabins. I've been several times now and loved every minute of it - hope you have a wonderful time.
