as far as I remember Juilet is the most eligable girl in Verona and Paris is the most eligable man, it's a very desirable marriage for everyone apart from Romeo and Juliet.  I think it's suppose to be the day before Juliet takes the potion, so she is supposed to be found on her wedding day.  Check www.sparknotes.com for heaps of info on it
