Rciky Gervais - yea or nay?

Am I the only person in the world to find Mr Gervais totally unfunny?
My funny bone functions perfectly well when he's not around, but as soon as he appears on screen I experience feelings more normally associated with the consumption of out-of-date seafood.

Those were the days, eh?
Word-Smith:
I was of the same opinion as you and never watched The Office until I almost by accident saw an episode. I grudgingly changed my opinion of Mr Gervais and must admit that I also then found Extras very funny. And his sidekick, the big gawky-looking guy, Stephen Merchant, cracks me up.
But it's horses for courses, really. I can't stand that guy who's meant to be the latest great thing in stand-up comedy, Michael McIntyre? He's a smarmy g*t. Also, I've personally never rated Victoria Wood although she's always been extremely popular.
But give me a very non-PC Joan Rivers, or even the harmless hilarity of Ken Dodd any day - now that's comedy !!

I have caught odd bits of Extras and smiled, but have been put off by the man himself. Even when he is supposed to be acting he is still himself.
I have recently enjoyed Dave Gorman - his Googlewhack Adventure is wonderful, even if it is a few years old by now. Not traditional comedy, but most enjoyable.
As regards Victoria Wood: one look at my username will tell you how I feel about her and her undoubted skills. I love her observational routines; so close to reality they are scary.
I do feel that some "comedians" are fashionable thanks to perhaps sleeping with the right TV producer. It seems to me that gay comedians are more naturally funny, whereas most others are lost without a decent script.
