You've all experienced it......you hear a classical piece someplace, but can never get hold of it as you dont know the composer or track name!! Im suffering it right now. I know the tune, but have no idea who it's by. Any suggestions on how I can find out (knowing the tune!!). Thanx!!
This, I heard on radio a few years back, might be worth a long shot; If you phone the main library in Birmingham (music department) they do a 'hum a tune' service. Sounds crazy but what you got to lose, asking?
I would go to one of the CD retail sites eg cdnow.com and search for classical compilations. Select one which has samples available and listen to each track in turn. If necessary, keep selecting albums until you get fed up, or find the one you want! If nothing else you will realise how many classical tunes you recognise!!
Happy listening and good luck.
Most towns have a music shop that specializes in classical music .. just go in and hum it to the assistant. Usually it is a fairly well known piece so solving it is easy and by the way a lot of people do go in not knowing the name of the music.
