Tv Link Question.

My in laws have run a cable up stairs to carry the HD Sky up stairs (coax), when attatching a tv link to it, the link does not work, and the picture drops to about 20 percent quality, any ideas?

point one, you won't get HD over coax.

that aside, I assume you are talking about a magic eye, in which case have you turned the power on for the TV2 output?

There is an option in the menus somewhere to switch on TV2 voltage that is needed for the magic eye to work

yes I know it wont carry the hd singal, and yes the second out put is turned on rf2.

Carefully check the connectors on each end of the cable for shorts. If even one thin strand of the braid is touching the central core then the RF2 output voltage will automatically turn of to prevent damage.

The thing is the signal of the pciture carries perfeect upstairs, but as soon as you connect the tv link it drops signal, and the link doesnt work (it is not a faulty tv link, I have checked)

Chek the instructions fully, although there is an option to turn off and on the rf2 output there is also a power up option which will enable the remote functions and tv picture to work.

Failing all of this, check the link is firstly connected directly to the coax upstairs and not to any rf fly leads.

Connect the TV link and then go back into the Sky box menu to ensure the "RF outlet power supply" setting is still enabled. If the box is at all unhappy with what's connected to RF2 then it will turn the power off to prevent damage.

You select this setting by pressing "services" then 4 then 0 then 1 then "select" this takes you to the Installer Set-up page where the setting can be accessed (item 4, RF Outlets).

My instructions (services>4>0>1>select) were for a Sky+ box, not HD, but it is in a similar place in the menu.

Yeah I have done all that.

I might have to check the cable, as it still does not work.
